One day a week, sweep and mop your floors and wipe down all your kitchen surfaces, including those in your pantry.

Chris Parker, Founder, Parker Eco Pest Control said: "Ants are attracted to moisture, so you may see them even if your kitchen and bathroom are spotless."

You can also use chilli powder, peppermint essential oil, or garlic for other natural alternatives.

If none of these tips help get rid of the ants, there are more extreme solutions you can try.

One is to seal any open cracks that may allow the tiny insects to enter your home.

To do this, use waterproof silicone caulk or sealant to fill in cracks or holes especially on windows.

Look for lines of ants to see where they originally entered your home.

Usually, ants will make their way inside from cracks in your window or openings near your doors.

You can also buy ant baits to set up in your bedroom and other areas of the house.

The ants will be attracted to the bait, which comes in either gels, granules, or stations, then get stuck and die.
